The Sculptor
Ivan Galindo Rodriguez,
acclaimed Cuban sculptor, was born in the province of Matanzas, Cuba in May of 1968. He has won numerous
awards for his drawings and sculptures throughout his career. He arrived on American shores at the age of
24 after a harrowing three day and three night journey with nothing but the strength in his arms, the faith
in his heart and two oars. Today, he is a recognized member of the Miami art scene. His vision encompasses
varied and opposing scales and materials. His goldsmith work is dimensional and inspired by his admiration
for the natural world. His sculptures and public pieces include wall-sized reliefs; imposing towering monumental
pieces in marble, bronze and wood. Few sculptors can shift their expressive vision so easily from the miniature world
of jewelry to the public monument with his ease.
He continues to sculpt craft and teach at his studio located in Little Havana. His signature religious icons are scattered
in churches throughout the US and his Cuban and cultural motifs are privately held and collected. We are very proud and
honored to include him among our craftsmen.
